What we have here is a tryptich, but the three parts need to be given some definition. I'd like to see the first section formatted as a recipe found form. The stories of the wizard and the accidental potion could work if given attention. Thanks for the contribution, and welcome to the author's list!

I'd like to respond to Evenrude, Pacific Northwest, and Truth Talker. Normally, I'd use the e-mail connection, but they didn't leave one. I wrote the story because I thought that it was an interesting idea, funny (I hoped) and a chance to make a small political statement. If somebody doesn't like my story that's their choice, but I didn't like the tone of some of their comments, and I choose now to respond. I don't worry -- well, not too much -- about my story count. If I did, I wouldn't have spent most of the last five or six years working the the "Eerie Saloon" stories. They're an incredible amount of work for Chris and me. The effort could probably go into a dozen or more short stories each year. I want to write about Eerie and the folks who live there, so I do. I disagree with the statement that the story has no TG content. There's a very detailed description of a transformation in the middle of the tale and the start of a second one at the end. I don't expect to do a sequel about "The W" or Rummy, though, so the story is complete. I could argue that the "Ali Baba" reference is anti-Moslem. I looked up several different sites about the afterlife that were run by Moslem organizations. Moslems see their Paradise, which they sometimes call the Garden, as much more of a reflection of idealized life on Earth, complete with music, food, architecture, etc., as well as the houris that everyone jokes about. Ibrahim and Sarai, the Jewish patriarch Abraham hand his wife Sarah, are said to preside to some extent over that Paradise. Moslems tell a different version of their lives, with an emphasis on Abraham's other son, Ishmail, who is remembered as the father of the Arab peoples. It is common among Arabs to refer to a man as the father of his son. Ibrahim was Ismail's father. Ishmail might be called Ismail ibn Ibrahim (Ishmail the son of Ibrahim), and Ibrahim was Ibrahim abu Ishmail (Ibrahim the father of Ishmail). Several of the 9-11 terrorists were referred to as "abu" somebody. So was Zaqari. Jewish tradition says that Sarah was one of the most beautiful women who ever lived. When Abraham and Sarah went into Egypt, and Abraham said that he was Sarah's brother so no man would slay him in order to free Sarah to be the murderer's wife, Sarah was in her 80s. She was over 90 when Isaac was born. I described her as having the body of an attractive young woman and the white hair of her true age. Moslem's refer to what Christians call Judgement Day as the Day of Resurrection. That resurrection, they believe, will be into a physical body. I researched all of this before I wrote the story. I wanted it to reflect what Moslems actually believed the afterlife was like, not what I as a Westernized and somewhat secular Jew thought they believed. I wonder how knowledgeable my three critics were when they commented on it.
