| One of the recurring themes in TG Fiction that I've found most disturbing is 'Identity Death', in which a protagonist is not only changed physically, but also mentally to a point where they have NO (in decimals, 0.0) memory of their previous lives -- in effect, they are killed and replaced by different people, people who, more often than not, don't feel quite as real to me as the people they were before. Largely because they're constructs with false memories created for someone else's convenience. This story is a good take on the metaphysical implications of this occurence. Does a different soul or whatever replace the soul of the 'victim'? The ending, I felt, was a good twist. Overall, I liked the story, even though heavy metaphysics like this can give me a headache. |

| Hi Cordellian I think this is an excellent story even if there are certain elements that might require some slight stetch of the imagination! (Okay, I know it's a fantasy but soem parts are just a little too fantastic.) I think you have certainly planned the story well and we can begin to see how it might all work out (subject to you introdicng a couple of twists and turns). For what's it worth, I would also have had Deanna at the Academy (For Maids) where she would have been trained strictly as a maid (without the schoolgirl aspect). Gemma would have been aware of this and insisted that that after her training was completed she would work as one of the maids at the party to celebrate the business deal concluded by her (Gemma). It would have been at that party that Deanna would have been introduced in his new role to his wife. Gemma would then buy out her contract from the hotel and she would have forced Deanna to return to her former company as a secretary/office girl or maybe even as a tea lady or cleaning woman.
