| I think I mentioned this once on the hyperboard already, but this is one of my all-time favorite reads ... and Crissy is DEFINITELY my favorite TG character. The detailed descriptions, the wildly disparate switch (and the gradual thoroughness of it all) really make this a wonderful story. I do hope you complete it one of these days ... though after a re-read, I myself can't see exactly where one would go with it. But I'm sure your proven creativity and dazzling imagination is up to the challenge! ... please give us more! |

| I found this chapter to be, well...a bit tedious. The cycle of introduce male, give quick reason for conversion, then march them and the reader through the steps involved over and over and over quickly becomes as annoying as the use of stock footage in cartoons. And the whole thing smacked rather too much of "Utopian" fiction, in that everything tried worked inevitably, just as planned, and there was never a hitch or setback. I t would work better, I think, if there were a bit more dramatic tension. Characters with vision or hearing problems that make them less susceptible to the mass subliminals. A small percentage of the population being violently allergic to some of the chemicals so wantonly flung about. A former man or two retaining enough autonomy to swallow a gun and the guilt feelings and unwanted attention from authorities this would bring about. That sort of thing. Oh, and the ALL-CAPS keywords were really jarring. |

| I really enjoyed this take on the story. It was faithful to the feeling of the original while being fresh and engaging to read. There are several notable changes to the story, all of which update it to be more in line with modern sensibilities. That sort of editorial decision is one I think the jury is still out on but, at least in this case, I think was done very well. The only thing that really concerns me about this version is that the final alteration is one which resolves the core conflict and so greatly restricts the potential for any kind of sequel or continuance. And I think we'd all have enjoyed seeing the author's take on the rest of the story. Good work tealights, keep writing! |
