| Sounds like they’re really piling it on at work all of the sudden. Like you said, most of these meetings are ‘pointless’. Busy work to keep people’s minds off impending doom, or to see who’s actually taking them seriously? Having Shirley wear a bow with her uniform might make a better impression when she gets one of those intrusive spot-checks. Always try to remember that you’re both being watched. Good that YOU decided that she should be back in uniform with guests in the house. You didn’t have your usual heart-to-heart with Shirley Sunday night. It doesn’t have to involve pickle rubbing or even unlocking her. But you say you were both disturbed about some of the things the nurse went over, it might help to talk a little more about what each of you expect when all is said and done. Everything is really palatable until you get to the bottom surgery part, then things become irrevocable. And very painful, literally. Tom got his, so he’s happy. Is he going to return the favor? That was a big leap, maybe an opening for bigger and better things? Got anybody in mind yet? Is Tom more serious about this than you are, or is he just going with your flow? (I apologize for both double entendres, they weren’t at all intentional.) I hope you’re going to give Shirley some talk time this week, it’s still important to keep those lines of communication open. Even with the full schedules you both have, they need to happen. Plus, as a person who has been reduced to near-servant status at times (I mean at the office), she might pick up on rumors or actual decisions being made at work that you should know about. |
