| From the start I should point out that 'super hero(ine)' stories leave me cold. I grew out of comics with pictures at 13 - a very long time ago! So I'm unfriendly to your premise no matter how well your story is written, and it is written well. I can't resist Altered Fates stories, though :o). You managed to make a real person out of Jo, and her difficulties as a 'normal' human quite apart from the super-hero bit. In fact, if you so wished, you could replace 'Freefall' with a famous woman of your choice. People are often famous for their real or perceived talents, just like Freefall. One or two aspects jared a little for me. I found it difficult to believe anyone would be sceptical about magic in a world inhabited with people who could fly (so-called science heroes). I got a little slap on the wrist from Jennifer Adams for following Pyrites example in my own (only!) story and allowing some mental attributes to be transferred with the medallion. In her rules she's quite adamant that she disapproves of it. However, you've produced a good story with decently drawn characters - I just wish you'd resisted the flying people syndrome. | I found this story very well developed and enjoyable to read. The cast of characters, with a few exceptions, were well defined and added to the story line in a coherent, subtantive, way. The concept, while well used, was given a wonderful new twist that I found refreshing and inventive. Well done Tigger! |
