| I think the first three-quarters of the story is good, but the last quarter makes it guilty, as so many similar stories do, of overkill. This would have been realistic and the punishment suited to the crime if it had stopped before Derek and the sex, and if they had told their aunt the truth - "He put itching powder in our undies and we got him back.". She would have probably said, "Serves you right." He learns a lesson, no real harm done except he has to get a haircut. The way it stands, and what makes it unrealistic to me is that the people involved have too much to lose. Would Derek really do something that could get him charged with assault and possibly rape, especially knowing the girls could come back any time? Would Lisa risk losing her license? Would Lucy's mom really lie for such a prank? And Sarah and Jenny are going to have to watch their backs, as they have most likely made an enemy for life. |
