| This story would have functioned just as well...in fact, better, had Jennifer been a fairly undeveloped 16 year old. First of all, the author would have avoided the pedophilia aspects (especially apparent when Jennifer dresses as a 10 year old, lets herself be photographed and does all the the Daddy this and Daddy that nonsense). Secondly, 12 year olds don't talk and think like Jennifer...although plenty of 16 year olds do. She speaks and acts like at least about 17. Incidentally, who would even hire a 12 year old as an administrative assistant in a business context at all! Thirdly, while some parents may accept and encourage their teen's love life, those who would encourage a 12 year old to get involved with an adult would have to have something seriously wrong. I simply changed the age to 16 or 17 in my mind, and the result was a better read. |
