| As Sleater Kinney once said: You can't get to heaven in your Sunday best, When the night before they were calling it your cocktail dress. Ok, that's apropos of nothing, but it's a great quote that sounds sort of vaguely transgendered as does anything that has the words "cock" "tail" and "dress" in it. And in that sense it's a little bit like our little Melissa, brilliant and moving in constantly surprising new directions that are at the same time both fresh and novel. Don't get me wrong, I don't praise this story because it's funny and touching with a soundtrack that features Jello Biafra and Jen Trynin doing duets of Frank Sinatra covers. No, I praise this because it represents real artistic growth. Take for example my favorite -- the Professor -- brilliant guy, great writer, but at the end of the day, he really is the Phil Collins of transgender fiction: IT'S THE SAME STORY AGAIN AND AGAIN. It's a great story, but it's still all just the same. So hats off Missy, keep up the work, and we'll keep up with praise. |

| ahhh... you MUST have touched a lot of nerves with this one..(your story)... in fact.. i often add my two-cents worth and have NEVER seen more reviews.. good bad or otherwise...ergo... you dun a great job christine..lol ahhh, just me...lol.. and i DO love the genre... but?.. being threatened with blackmail photos... wouldn't do it for me..lol... i'd counter.. with a life ending threat of my own (hers, not mine..) ..lol.. upping the ante, as it were... i KNOW... you're supposed to submit..lol.. however?... just me.. nevermind... anyway, you have a GREAT story here... thanks for taking the time to write it... joanie... |
