| I am afraid that I had to stop before I reached the end. I will try to approach it again in the future. I was utterly astounded that an entire town and even the lead character's own mother would perpetuate such a heinous act upon a child. The town people's vanity was ghastly. I realize that this is fiction, but I see it as very dark. An entire town with a smile on it's face and glow in it's heart have no concern for the child except as he accomodates tham, shudder, wow "Twilight Zone". I hope the story gets better, but the premise is frightening |

| I cried while reading it, so you're certainly not alone. If there could be more scenes like this around the country without such a tragic trigger the world might be a much better place. I only wish that my cynical side wasn't likely to be correctin assuming that most principals, sherriffs, etc. wouldn't be likely to play quite as kindly a part...But that's part of the problem isn't it? Thank you for writing something so many of us feel and that we may wish we had the courage to do...then or now. |
