| This is a nice story. I am anxiously awaiting for the next part. It is easy to read and is light in character. It makes you feel good while reading it. It has none of the heavy overtones that some of the stories engender. The character development is adequate for the type story and it has enough characters for variety without too many which might cause confusion. This plot has a lot of potential as theere is a whole summer of adventures our hero must suffer to preserve his identity. This could be a lot of fun. |

| What a *wonderful* story! I'm always impressed by authors who set a challenge for themselves. I'm much more impressed when they meet that challenge. Pretzel's attempt to write in the style of a late 19th century "amazing story" has come off flawlessly and adds so much to this particular tale. The "feel" of that kind of writing is spot-on here. Add to that some *very* well drawn characters, (more noteworthy for being accomplished in a story of relatively short length), a wonderfully, subtly wry sense of time and place and just the right "pinch" of gentle, wistful humor and you have a real winner! This one is a must read! (I'm off to see if there aren't some other gems penned by this author. I'm betting that there are.) |
