| Professor, Just writing to say that I keep an eye out for new postings from you and read "19" as soon as I could. "19" is up to your usual standards and I enjoyed reading it very much. I really liked the way that you gave me a sense that I had been missing something in the earlier stories because the threat of "others of her like" had been lurking even though I was unawares at the time (as you might have been too!) I also liked the sense of vulnerability that you gave to the Judge and the gods. This is not a game without consequences for them. They too can be mortal. I think that this introduces a new writing problem for you. What seperates your god characters from your human characters? Are the gods just humans who live a long time and know a few magic tricks? I think your emphasis on their (god) mortality greys the line of distinction quite a bit. They have no longer created Ovid "just" to save humanity, the gods are in the game too. Finally, just in time for Halloween you introduce the idea that immortals focused on world destruction live among mortals, in this case as the head of Homeland Security. | I had read this story before, but found it again this morning on "This Date in Fictionmana History." The 'identity death' story is one that keeps popping up (I even wrote one myself). This was a well thought out story, with good execution (as others said, the 'Smurf's' theme was a good device). Especially good twist that boyfriend was innocent... and can't believe she actually stated (near the end) that SHE had lost any affection for HIM, how do think HE felt. And the ending... wow. Just goes to show the old cliche is correct... "Two wrongs don't make a right." JoAnn |

| I enjoyed most of the story. The part that was too hard to swallow was how he just accepted the judgement. How about letting Jeri prove she really was framed. the Judge and ex girlfriend should get punished in an acceptable way too. The effort put in this story was great in the changing from man into womon.Please put some effort in the right vs wrong side too. I will be looking foward to the second part of this story.you made everything seems very plausible. |
