| Let me add my voice to the other reviewers congratulating Deane for reining in the stylistic excesses that made some of her earlier stories so difficult to read. She's obviously made a conscious effort here to appease her critics without completely sacrificing her voice, and I think this is probably her most enjoyable tale yet. I love the concept of the magical pair of high-heeled shoes, and I really respond to the fun, light-hearted approach Deane brings to the TG genre--I love the way her characters wholeheartedly embrace the chance to spend more and more time as sexy bombshells. I suppose you could criticize Deane for the lack of any genuine conflict in her stories--they're really just protracted fantasy scenarios--but since her fantasies mesh so well with my own, I don't mind one bit! Brava! |

| As to Cory attacking unexpectedly, I was hoping to make it as much of a surprise to the reader as it was to the Sisterhood. As to the manner of his attack... it seemed obvious to me that if you realized that someone had been 'substituted', and the memories of (at least) hundreds of people had been changed... you would be seriously overmatched. You would have to (a) not draw attention to yourself as best you could, and (b) when you moved, move with as much force available as possible. Clearly I'll need to add a scene where Cora explains her reasoning. |
