This may very well be the best story on this site. It is such a pleasure to encounter a writer who actually understands her characters and how to make them real to us. Ms. Brooks gives us a first-rate example of Robert Heinlein's definition of 'love' ( When someone else's happiness is essential to your own. ) in the relation- ship between 'Mark/Martha' and 'Kathleen'. Their love is, perhaps, strained but not broken. To Laura Brooks I say; Keep 'em coming.
