| Good, solid story. As I believe nobody mentioned, probably the best one yet in the contest. The ending comes about somewhat quickly, but that's ok. It's tough to end a long, plotted-out story. The writing style is good, and the references to real geography are a nice touch (BTW, is John's office in Alexandria on King, Washington or Duke street?) Hope to see some more in the future from this author. |

| I'm with seedeedoubleyou, I'm really getting annoyed with writers who let these things happen to their main characters, without the main characters either being able to do anything about it, or not doing anything about it. That just doesn't ring true. If the mother has some specific power that keeps the son from doing something, then *say* that. But its a great leap of faith to ask the reader that someone is unexplainedly powerless to fight back when someone is doing something bad to them. - Paula |
