| I haven't read the sequial, "The Vial", yet, but I would have made an awfuly good story better by using female manga stars instead of their dullard, one - dimensional yankee counterparts. Aeka and Ryoko, Sakura and Tomoyo, Bellandy and Sculd, Akane Tendo and Uyko, Major Motoko Kusinagi and San ("Mononoke Hime"), Sheeta ("Laupta, Castle in the Sky") and Princess Nauiscaa... The list is endless. In short, my only real complaint is that you used, in my train of thought, Marvel super-heros, when far better alteratives exist just feet away in the comic book store in the "Manga" section. Just wait when our "dyamic duo" shout out aloud "MOON PRISM POWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" |

| XX is a skilled writer, more so than 90% of the diary, first person, this and that happened to me drag posted here on fictionmania. I have read all six installments of IN HER SERVICE, and although I was heavily drawn in at the beginning, I found the arc of her story to be too flat. We have six long installments and the theme never changes and the characters never develop. Most disappointingly, no real connection is made betweent the mistress and the slave here. We learn little about what motivates the Mistress and we never see her human side. She is always wicked, merciless, and cold. Of course that is quite erotic for 1 or 2 chapters --- but she remains identically the same 1-6. The slave is also somewhat of a flat undeveloped character. The slave never evolved beyond "how did I get into this" and "maybe I should run away." So the whole dramatic tension in every chapter is the same. The slave wonders, "how can she do this to me," "I need to escape," and "what will she do next." On the other hand the Mistress is continually posturing and planning to train and own the slave. Never do the two form a transcedant Mistress-Maid, owner-slave relationship. Instead the chapters are all cat and mouse, punishment, and estranged tension between slave who disappoints is Mistress and therfore must face deeper, more sinister punishments. To repeat, its a good theme for the initial chapters, but when the theme is thereafter repeated and repeated, one's appetite does not feel quenced after glistening the smells from the kitchen. |
